Whatever your motivation, chances are that you’re probably reading this because you’ve been considering opening up your own CBD Store, or have at least thought about it.

And we don’t blame you! Ever since the 2018 Farm Bill was enacted, the CBD industry has been booming. It’s at record low prices, in corner stores, and we’re seeing new cannabinoids being commercialized at a rate never before seen. It’s not hard to see, opening up a CBD store can be fairly profitable, if done right.

How do you do it “right”? Well, it’s a complex question, but a good way to start is to find a reputable supplier. This task comes with many challenges in its self, due to the diversity in the growing industry.

In all reality, there are thousands of CBD companies out there, with a huge variety of specialties. Some are topical, some are oils, some are candies, some are gummies. Some are high CBD and some are low CBD. Some are good for pain relief, some for anxiety, some for sleep, some for energy, some for stress. Some are organic, some are non-organic. Some are vegan, some are non-vegan…

You get the jist, the CBD wholesale industry is incredibly diverse. So how do you know who to choose when it comes to suppliers?

We’ve put together a list of the most important questions you need to ask before choosing a CBD wholesale company.

1. What is the company’s history?

Reputable CBD wholesale companies will be very transparent about their history.

They’ll be open about the challenges they’ve faced. They’ll be honest about the products they’ve sold, and they’ll be upfront about the products they’re selling now.

Regardless of the details discussed, the invitation to discuss this means they’ve had the chance to develop their brand and have seen how the CBD wholesale industry has grown, making them more than a supplier – they have a collective amount of experience you can learn from over time.

2. What are their shipping policies?

The CBD wholesale industry is very competitive. That being said, having a good shipping policy is one of the biggest aspects that can give you an advantage. If you want to sell CBD, you need to have a supplier you can rely on when it comes to shipping. This means a company you can count on to get your CBD products to you as quickly as possible, which in turn will allow you to be able to get them to your customers as quickly as possible.

A quality CBD wholesale company will be happy to talk to you about their shipping policies. They’ll be happy to give you a better understanding of how their shipping works, and provide insight on core logistics information such as timelines, costs, and an overall understanding of what to expect.

If you find that the company is a little vague, or they don’t seem to know what their shipping policy is, they may not be a great fit for you.

3. Do they have a strong digital footprint?

The CBD wholesale industry isn’t as small as it once used to be.

With the influx of CBD sellers popping up overnight, it’s getting tougher to tell which brands are genuine in their CBD mission. One of the easiest ways to determine if someone is reputable is by checking their digital footprint.

What are people saying about them? Is the majority of content on other sites behind them sponsored? Are the reviews by real people? This one may require some extra digging, and only needs to be taken if you are really cautious about who you work with.

Chances are this isn’t a necessary step, but this is something to consider if you have a gut feeling you might not be working with the most trustworthy company.

4. Do they have a physical location?

If you can’t much information about them, this can sometimes be a good indication they’re not as legitimate as they claim to be. Although many companies, like ours, don’t sell to the public in person, we do operate under various locations. If you want to look into the legitimacy of a company, see if you can find an address associated with their business. Something is better than nothing.

If you’re looking at a prospective wholesale CBD company, and they have no information you can associate with them other than a contact form, you might want to look into alternative options.

5. Are they on the right side of the law?

While CBD is not technically illegal, the laws governing it and alternative cannabinoids like delta-8 can vary wildly from state to state.

It’s likely you won’t find a company that is 100% legal in every state, especially with all the new cannabinoids that pop up. However, if you are working with a company that has a good understanding of what they can and cannot do in your state, you can rest assured that they are probably a good candidate for your sourcing needs.

6. What kind of quality are their products?

This is one of the most important aspects of the CBD wholesale industry. The quality of the CBD products you source from your wholesale CBD supplier is going to be one of the most important factors in your success.

As a buyer, you want to make sure you are working with a supplier that offers quality CBD products, COA’s, and ultimately a price point you can profit from. And if they can offer this, can they do it consistently? For example, if you are looking to sell CBD oil, ideally you’ll want to make sure you are working with a company that offers an oil that is the right consistency, color, and price, throughout the year.

If you’re sourcing CBD from a company that doesn’t offer quality products, you are wasting your time and money. Something low quality in a space as crowded as this will get you nowhere. You’ll need to spend a little extra time and effort sourcing the right products, but the effort will be well worth it in the end.

CBD Wholesale – Quality over Quantity

In summary, when sourcing wholesale cbd, always take the time to look into your prospective suppliers. These are just a handful of tough questions to ask before committing to a single supplier if you’re new to the wholesale cbd world. At the end of the day, there are plenty of reputable CBD wholesale companies, and finding the supplier is only a fraction of running a CBD shop!

With the saturation of the growing industry, quality products and consistency will help you stand out. If you can find a reputable supplier, you’ll position yourself for success ahead of your CBD business journey!
